The National Council on Administrative Fellowships (NCAF), one of the premier membership programs of the National Center for Healthcare Leadership, developed this industry white paper in collaboration with NCAF's Long-term Planning & Special Projects and Membership & Outreach Subcommittees in 2018. In 2023, members of the NCAF community contributed valuable updates to this guide, including best practices and benchmarking resutls.

It serves as an internal guide for hospitals and health systems that are seeking industry best practices in setting up and running an administrative fellowship program, including the fellow selection and offer process as well as optimal operational structures for administrative fellowship programs.
