Vice President, Population Health and Chief Medical Health Officer

Fraser Health (FH) is responsible for the delivery of hospital and community-based health services to nearly 2 million people in 20 diverse communities in British Columbia, Canada, from Burnaby to Fraser Canyon on the traditional territories of the Coast Salish and Nlaka’pamux Nations. The Fraser region is home to 32 First Nations communities and 6 Métis Chartered communities. The Vice President, Population Health and Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO) will be a dynamic and innovative public health expert and physician leader who cohesively drives objectives and key results, partners with communities, and aligns closely with operations within Fraser Health and the province, while leading the way for public health, and health care, in Canada.

Reporting directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Victoria Lee, the Vice President (VP), Population Health and Chief Medical Health Officer (CMHO), will be a clear, caring and courageous leader, who champions advancements in population health and well-being within the Fraser Health region. The incoming VP and CMHO will be accountable in providing leadership and senior direction toward Fraser Health’s strategic imperatives and operational plans, including reporting to the Provincial Medical Health Officer on the regulatory responsibilities within the CMHO role.

The Vice President and CMHO will lead a broad portfolio, which at its core, is public health focused. Building a stronger community of practice internally, and across the province will be key. Deep and meaningful relationships with municipalities and First Nations and Métis Chartered communities in devising and implementing impactful strategies and actions will also be essential to success. Building awareness and knowledge will serve to help all people in the region have a better understanding of the public health function, and the preventative actions Fraser Health can take to decrease congestion in our acute settings.

As a progressive health care leader and physician who promotes cultural safety, the Vice President and CMHO will encourage new health care initiatives and programs, and will be passionate about quality in public health. In an organization that is evidence-based and result-oriented, the new VP and CMHO must be able to demonstrate impact through key metrics for Fraser Health, and the broader community. The Vice President and CMHO will partner, learn, and assess where there are opportunities to move things forward, with meaningful impact.

The salary range for this position is CAD $116.03 - $174.04 per hour.
